2017 brings with it many changes, including the resignation of our wonderful Queensland Welcome Dinner State Coordinator, Libby Blom, who has decided to step back a bit to spend more time with her growing family. Due to Libby’s leadership over the past 18 months, we now have plenty of momentum in Brisbane and Toowoomba and hundred’s of lives enriched by involvement in the many events she organised with great attention to detail. We are so grateful to Libby for contributing her time and energy to the Welcome Dinner movement, way beyond the call of duty. We will miss her “can-do” approach and kind and compassionate nature but thanks to her hard work we have many partnerships and collaborations with local organisations to expand on and continue growing the project in Queensland. Thank you Libby! Here are a few pics capturing just some of Libby’s work in the community:
Message from Libby:
I truly appreciate the 17 months I have spent with the Welcome Dinner Project (staff, volunteers, facilitators, hosts, guests and supporters). I have made lifelong friends and learnt how to truly live out my belief in caring for those who are isolated and in need.
My decision to resign has not come quickly or easily. I have been discerning it for some time and have decided to give my family priority at this stage. My young children will also miss the WDP. They are so involved and interested they created a game called ‘setting up a WDP information stall’ and ‘let’s set the table for a Welcome Dinner’. It is very sweet. A bit like shopkeepers but more ethical and creative.
